Judges Criteria ( Amended July 2005)

A1 LIST
For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CC's in the breed and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.

A2 LIST
For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.

A3 LIST (Breed Specialists)
1. Requirements of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.
2. To have attended and passed the KC specified seminars in 'Requirements of a Dog Show Judge' and 'Conformation and Movement' and have attended a breed specific seminar.
3. To have judged at one WHWT Breed Club Show and/or Terrier Club Show with a minimum of eight classes, minimum of 24 dogs at one Show.
4. To have judged the Breed at 20 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC's with an adequate geographical spread.
5. To have judged a minimum of 60 classes.
6. To have judged an average of 3 dogs per class i.e. 180 dogs.
7. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. ( Save in exceptional circumstances)
8. To have attended at least 2 judging seminars and passed an examination or assessment where applicable.
9. To have stewarded for a minimum period of 3 years and at least 12 Shows.

A3 LIST ( Non Specialist) Requirements include;
1. Minimum of 7 years experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.
2. To have attended and passed the KC specified seminars in 'Requirements of a Dog Show Judge' and 'Conformation and Movement'.
3. To have judged one Breed Club Show or Terrier Show of a minimum of 8 classes, minimum of 24 dogs i.e. average of 3 per class.
4. To have judged West Highland White Terrier breed at 20 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC's with an adequate geographical spread.
5. To have judged a minimum of 60 classes in this breed.
6. To have judged 180 West Highland White Terriers i.e. average 3 per class.
7. To have awarded CC's in at least one other breed.
8. To have attended at least 2 breed judging seminars, one of which must be a West Highland White Terrier breed seminar, and passed an assessment where applicable.
9. To have stewarded for a minimum period of 3 years and at least 12 Shows.
10. To have bred/and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book.

B LIST (Breed Specialists)
1. To have 5 years experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.
2. To have attended and passed the KC specified seminars in 'Requirements of a Dog Show Judge', 'Conformation and Movement', Conformation and Movement Hands-on by an accredited KC trainer and passed the assessment and attended a West Highland White Terrier breed seminar.
3. To have judged 15 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC's.
4. To have judged 30 dogs of this breed i.e. 2 per class.
5. To have stewarded at, at least 9 Shows.

B LIST (Non Specialists)
1. To have a minimum of 5 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.
2. To have judged 15 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC's.

C LIST
For aspirant judges who have shown interest in the breed and have the support of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales.
This must be by having been involved in showing West Highland White Terriers for at least 24 months and have attended a West Highland White Terrier Breed Seminar and at least one of the following.
1. Have attended and passed the KC specific seminars in 'Requirements of a Dog Show Judge'
2. Have attended and passed the KC seminar on 'Conformation and Movement'
3. Have stewarded at least 3 open shows.
Qualification for inclusion is at the discretion of the Committee. Listings would normally include persons who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows but do not qualify for the B Lists.
